National Railway Museum

From the glory of the Flying Scotsman, to the romance of Brief Encounter and the luxury of the Orient Express, trains have transported, inspired and entertained us.

The award-winning National Railway Museum, the largest of its kind in the world, makes a truly memorable venue for events. The facilities consist of 2 large halls, one housing some of the world's most iconic locomotives, the other a beautiful platform setting with luxurious carriages including a collection of ornate Royal Saloons. Receptions for up to 1000 guests and banquets for up to 800 can be held in the halls, where guests are immersed among these famous exhibits.

The Museum's dedicated Conference Centre won 'Conference Venue of the Year' in both the 2010 and 2013 Visit York Tourism Awards and was recently refurbished to further improve the facilities. A branded entranceway, new furniture, unique catering serveries and striking floor-to-ceiling prints of nostalgic railway imagery have all enhanced the existing offer for business events. There are six suites available accommodating small meetings to larger conferences for up to 140 delegates. Located right next to York train station and less than a mile from the city centre, the National Railway Museum is the perfect platform for any event.
